This piece was born from a place of rediscovered strength and joy. I started with layers of acrylic paint, building an abstract background full of soft, light tones and lively textures. Once that foundation settled, I added the peacock — painted with jeweled blues, teals, and pinks — and a touch of gloss medium to give her that subtle, confident shimmer. To finish, I surrounded her with airy floral accents and a misty glow, creating a sense of openness and light.
For me, the peacock has always symbolized confidence. But since the brightly colored ones are often male, I wanted to create a version that feels more feminine — strong, radiant, and self-assured, yet still graceful and nurturing. The Confident Peacock is my reminder that women deserve to stand tall and proud, too. We are allowed to take up space, to care for ourselves, and to find happiness in our independence.
This painting carries a very personal story. After my divorce, I went through a long period of rediscovery. I had to rebuild my sense of self-worth and confidence from the ground up. Through that process, I learned that loving yourself and setting boundaries isn’t selfish — it’s essential. This painting celebrates that journey: the moment when you start to remember who you are and embrace your own light again.
For the collector, The Confident Peacock is more than just a piece of art — it’s a daily reminder to hold your head high, trust your own voice, and let your colors shine.
